The Sponsorship Programme....details....

(Name yet to be decided) Scholarship
For Rural Students (or any like this)

i need a name for this sponsorship fund...please suggest...thanks...ya suggestion is greatly appreciated....

Introduction:
This programme is designed to help rural students of Eastern regions of Nepal, particularly at Bhojpur. This district is yet out of first basic needs of human beings like transport, electricity and communication. Mainly early child marriage, gender discrimination, illiteracy and rule through traditional belief are the prevailing aspects even today. Similarly, the most miserable situation is of girls that are of schooling age. They are forced/persuaded to early marriage. They are never encouraged to have complete high school education or higher studies of university mainly Chyangre and Paikala of Bhojpur. Mainly parents don’t want to see their grown up daughters going to school or college. The concept of sending their daughters to city areas of higher education is rare and colleges are there in their home village. Mostly grown up girls have common faith- marriage and finally a family life. Besides, they are never encouraged by government plan and polices, even international volunteers or organization don’t dare to approach such places, and they are at town areas like Kathmandu in large. This programme in the form of scholarship or sponsorship targets to level up this miserable parts of girls, encouraging them from high school education (grades 6, 7, 8, 9,10) to higher education so that it will bring effective result in the future of students, and social awareness in the mind of poor, innocent and uneducated parents.

Aims or Objectives:
This programme has the given below objectives for its beginnings-
- To encourage rural girl students mainly in their study.
- To create awareness among to parents of students.
- To impart knowledge that both girls and boys are equal in that area.

Target Groups: In the first phase the target students groups will be form the following schools:

# Shree Pancha Kanya Higher Secondary School in which around 1100 students are studying. This is one of the biggest school and students come from different cultural and ethnic background. It is a community run school and students cover a distance of 1 hour walk to attend regular classes. No transportation there.
# Shree Jalapa Devi Primary School: This school runs with 240 children from nursery to class 5. Mostly children of community attend classes irregularly because it also lacks motivation for education.

Number of selection students (minimum)

The donations i haf collected so far....please read...

Dear frenz...

i had sent out an email on 28 Sept 2005 to appeal for donations for 44 underpriviledged children in Chabahil, Kathmandu, Nepal and til date..on 4 oct 2005 8.15 pm nepal time....i haf collected S$2585..n is equivalant to Nepalese rupees 103,400....wow...that's a lot of $$$...dun underestimate ya donation..cos when all the $$$ is pooled together..it means a lot...is reallie a lot of $$$..reallie appreaciate the huge n kind response...the money collected is more than enough for the orphanage to meet their basic needs...i would set aside a budget of the collected amount for the 44 children at the orphanage and the remaning amount i was thinking of setting up a fund to sponsor the underpriviledged children from the very remote areas of Nepal..but before i can do that i need the permission of the kind donors...cos is public fund...is actuallie a big responsibility for me to manage such big amount of $$$...moreover is not my $$$.....so i need ya true opinions and comments okie...that would be a great help for me...to reduce my "burden"...i am always thinking and making sure how i can best utilize the money collected and be accountable for every dollar spent....

How the money as been utilised at the orphanage so far?
i am going to be very truthful to all my kind donors here...
initially i was very overwhelmed in meeting the basic needs of the children at the orphanage and was very keen in providing for their basic needs as much as i can...however after i talked to the locals here..providing for the material needs after all is short term...wat would be more beneficial would be providing for their long term needs such as education...the amount i haf collected so far is more than enough for the children at the orphanage....i haf bought them 14 sets of single mattress, quilt blankets and covers, 10 sets of double mattress, quilt blankets and covers, undergarments for the 17 girls..3 pieces per girl...socks and towels for all 44 children...some food items and toiletries, so far i had spent nepalese rupees 25,972 for the above items....i would not be spending all the above money collected on the same orphanage as i felt that they haf received much...in fact the staff of the orphanage r starting to take things for granted...they began to ask me for things...which upsets me...i would be very firm that whatever i buy is for the children...i would set aside a budget of nepalese rupees of 35,000 to 40,000 to the orphanage....to buy the remaining necessities and may be bring the children out for an outing.... i would have a huge amount of about nepalese rupees 60,000...n i truly seek ya opinions....esp from the donors how i shd use this money...i would definitely seek the donors' permission before using the money in other areas....

currently i am sourcing for trustworthy organisations in nepal which are reallie in need to help...besides that i was thinking of setting up a fund to sponsor the children of very remote areas for their education....i haf met a nepali friend who i can trust..he is called Kris, actuallie he is my neighbour of my rented room, he is a school teacher, teaching English...he is from eastern nepal and for 15 yrs, he was in the village until he cme to kathmandu to pursue his education 10 yrs ago...he graduated with his masters degree and is currently the only masters graduated from his village .he had set up a fund with 3 of his friends to help the poor from the remote areas...together they pooled some money to sponsor 5 students from eastern nepal (Mt Kanchanjanga region) for their education, accordingly nepalese rupees 20,000 can change a person's life... however the sponsorship programme was shortlived as they were poor students then and they do not haf enough funds to sustain the sponsorship...he has done up a proposal in nepali and he has translated and forwarded to me...would be sending u all too...if u all...the kind donors are agreeable to re-channel ya donations to this sponsorship programme, i would facilitate the process of making sure that the money reaches the needy...But, if u do not want ya money to go to this cause..do lemme noe...i would return the money to u at no questions asked...i truly seek ya opinions in this sponsorship fund...do email me or send me ya comments via the blog....i reallie need ya feedback...sponsorship for the children's education would be more valuable and long term than providing for short term material needs, i admit i have overlooked that initially...and now i m trying to put the money in greater cause rather than jus buying stationary and school bags...we may not be able to save the world..but the money collected so far can at least see 5 students thru his or her education for 1 year...in order for this sponorship to succeed..i need to trust the pple here and be trusted by u all...i am glad that i haf met this nepali frenz whom i can trust....he has been helping me since i haf arrived at the orphanage.....are u agreeable to let the donations go to this sponsorship...i need ya permission before i do anything to the money..please tell me ya true opinions....i would ya money if u are not comfortable with the proposed idea.....is tough doing this alone...so i need ya support and true opinions....lemme noe soon....thanks for ya big heart and attention....
