langtang trek..22 to 29 oct 2005..some fotos...

the ride from kathmandu to the starting pt of our trek in langtang took us almost 11 hrs...the road was reallie bad..many landslides...so bumpy that our internal organs changed positions during the bus journey...look at the no of pple packed onto the bus...sean and i got the last row of seats....extra cramped n extra bumpy...few moments my heart jumped when the bus was landing after rolling over some rocks...after lunch...sean n i went up the roof of the bus to enjoy some breeze...

my one way ticket home...

haf jus booked an air tix online....from ho chi minh, vietnam to singapore....with tiger airways...the tax is more ex than the base fare...total cost for the one way ticket home is S$74.23, tax included...m missing home lately and looking forward to returning home...changi airport..ahhh..would be leaving korea for dalian, china this thur...bringing forward my departure date from korea..as i haf little time left..better move my ass back home fast...from dalian may be travelling up north china for 1 week or so..then haf to move to west china liao...tibet tibet tibet...been wanting to go but now...i m so far from tibet...and it may be v difficult n may be not possible to go now w the time constraint n the winter....some roads may not be passable...even if i can get to lhasa from golmud...i may be stucked in lhasa as the roads in east tibet may be closed and i haf to go back to golmud...more travelling....another option is to gif tibet a miss this time and head to yunnan...then vietnam...then home onboard tiger airways....

pokhara, nepal (5 - 10 oct 2005)...

i jus love pokhara...love the peace..the calm...and the quietness...no cars horning non stop right at ya ears like kathmandu..the air is good...simply love pokhara...til i extended my stay there for another 2 nites...would love to stay there longer....the first time i went pokhara was 6 years ago...and i managed to find the hotel which i stayed 6 years ago....things are still the same....except that there r much lesser tourists in pokhara as compared to 6 years ago when tourism was booming....me, myself and my bicycle...rented a bicycle for 40 Rs per hr to cruise around pokhara...was riding for 3hrs until the sky turned dark...wish i had more time...riding next to phewa lake was especially therapeutic...

very late dinner...this is one of the few restuarants away from the pubs which were still open when i ordered my dinner at 9.30pm...tibetan bread n curry n nepal milk tea...the restaurant owner took great effort to prepare the meal though it was late n closing time....cos of the good service...i went back to the same restuarant again....i like tibetan food...tibetan bread...thukpa..n tibetan momo....yum yum....

the musli curd...musli with yoghurt was good too!!!!though not tibetan...

aniwae...the view of the annapurna range behind me while at sarangkot...at abt 1585m...woke up at 5.30am to catch the sunrise...the sky was not too clear...the sunrise was not reallie fantastic...we had much better view of the himalayan range the next day on our bus journey from pokhara to kathmandu...we can see the snow capped mountains while on the bus!!!...dun even need to go up to sarangkot to enjoy such view....was right at our bus seat!!!....

todae at chungju dam, south korea...seoul pple r drinking from the chungju lake.....

my china hairstyle....cut in shanghai..for 5 yuan...with dry wash and massage and blow....total 10 yuan........now u see it (my hair).....
now u dun.....spikey spikey.....is v cold here...though late autumn when the leaves r falling or rather fallen.....no snow yet but still.....brrr.....my ears r v vunerable to the cold without hair....brrr.....my ears almost dropped off when the wind blows....

white water rafting in trisuli river, nepal...on 5 oct 2005...yi..er..san..

it was at the trisuli river where i met my korean frenz...3 of them...namely gangster, fat boy and kang aka gambler...v farnie pple...gangster and kang were travelling together from korea to west china then tibet/nepal...and they met fat boy in lhasa and 3 of them travelled together to nepal....i signed up for a rafting trip alone thru a rafting company in thamel...and on the day of departure...the 3 koreans were on the same bus w me to the same river...we booked the same rafting trip from different companies and we ended in the same raft...the koreans been to china and knew some chinese....so during the rafting trip...they were shouting yi, er, san to coodinate the rowing strokes....it was so farnie and amusing...there were a chinese couple from beijing but they were not shouting yi, er, san...but the koreans r shouting yi, er, san....hahaa....after rafting, we parted....the 3 koreans went to chitwan national park...while i went to pokhara alone....however 2 nights later...we met in pokhara again...and we sorta travel together from pokhara back to kathmandu.....it was oso them whom brought me to where i m now...south korea....i took a ferry from qingdao, china to incheon, south korea...15 hrs...m here for a week already...was staying at kang's (extreme right) place for my first week in korea...kang's place is in suji, yongin...1 hr away from seoul by bus without traffic...was roaming in seoul by myself for 3 consecutive days...oso got my 3 month china visa in seoul for 35,ooowon...managed to get a 3 month china visa simply by filling in a fake china address in the visa form...moved to fat boy's (2nd from right) place on 25 nov....m in chungju now...chungju is a good, peaceful place....old city...quiet..calm...v different from seoul or the new city...n the food is cheaper here....chungju apple is delicious...my frenz has brought me to chungju "orchard road"...chungju "bugis"...n todae went to try chungju dumpling at chungju "ting tai feng"....is kim chi dumpling....very spicy...and my frenz name it "sorrow dumpling"...todae's dumpling not so spicy...would go try the v spicy one...my frenz told no cry..no money...free dumpling...hahaaaa....

from qingdao to korea...

finallie got the ferry ticket to incheon, south korea after 3 visits to the ferry ticketing counter at qingdao....first time the counter was closed when i reached...i reached at 5pm and the counter closed at 5pm...went yesterdae again....the person refused to sell me the ticket as i dun haf korean visa...actuallie singaporeans no need visa to visit korea for up to 30 or 90 days...can't rem...but i noe no visa is needed...but the person dare not sell me as the korean embassy closed yesterdae and she could not chk....arrrrggghhh....i was so hapy for the moment when i can get the ticket at student rate....but no visa cannot buy....the person asked me to go buy from weidong ferry operator todae...this morning i went early early to weidong....and i got the ticket!!!!...at student rate too....the original price is 750yuan...but w my "student" card...i get 20 % off....so is 600yuan for students....she asked if i m a student...i told "yes" confidently and proudly showed my "student" card...not my matric card...but my jc eca card....act my oac card w a foto of me when i m 17 yrs old...issued on 1997...heng no expiry date on da card....they never reallie check n asked....n i get away w student rate!!! how useful!!!heeheee....thanks liping for choosing the card for me from all the cards i haf at home n passing to heyu to bring to nepal for me...u r so smart....it reallie help me save cost....heheehe.....

in china now....

left nepal on 7 nov...took a flight to shanghai...from shanghai took a train to qingdao....not to enjoy tsing tao beer but to catch a ferry from qingdao to incheon, south korea...hope i can get ticket for fridae's ferry....qingdao is very cold w the sea wind....my ears r v vunerable as i hafcut my hair n my ears r exposed...now wrapping myself wa scarf as if i haf leprosy...i m currently the onli one wearing headgear in qingdao...the rest jus wear their furry down jackets...i m freezing in qingdao oredi....n i miss nepal so much....so far i haf visited the 2 big cities of china...dun reallie like...shanghai is filled w pple....gave me a headache....tink i haf to go to the village of china....

My volunteer project at the orphanage has officially ended..and today is sorta the farewell at the orphanage as i would be leaving nepal on 7 no...i would update more...the children of the orphanage would like to thank you for the kind donations and ya big hearts!!!Thank you!!!!!....

hey hey yo...i m still in nepal....but leaving nepal soon.....leaving for tibet by bus on 8 nov morning....haf gone to langtang for a 8 days trek from 22 to 29 oct 2005...the trek was good but the guide was not good...he left us halfway during the trek...with my trekking permit....now i m fighting to get back my refund....been trying to borrow a laptop to work on the report for the orphanage and the utilisation of the funds collected i haf yet to get hold of the laptop.....would try to go to my frenz office to do....is tihar....deepavali...this week in nepal...the hindu celebrate tihar for 5 days....is very festive over here now....and fri is hari raya.....would be a great week for singaporeans too...cos need to take onli 3 days leave to enjoy the whole week off.....enjoy yeah......take care there too!!!!!
